A meeting was convened at Ministry of Justice to review the laws
A meeting was held at Ministry of Justice on Thursday February 24th, 2022, in order to review the laws, including the Law on Processing the Legislative Documents, Law on Real Estate Agencies and the Law on Emirate Cases and check their compliance with the Islamic Jurisprudence.
The meeting was attended by, Mawlawi Abdul Hakim Sharie, the acting Minister of Justice, the upright religious scholars being appointed within the framework of Laws Drafting Project and a number of personnel from the Legislative Affairs Institute of Ministry of Justice.
At this meeting, the acting Minister of Justice pointed out that "We want the government for rule of Sharia but not the Sharia for the government". He also said that they want the laws to comply with the Islamic Jurisprudence, not contrary to it.
The acting Minister of Justice stated that Amir al-Mu'minin instructed all departments through a directive to review their relevant laws in accordance with Islamic Sharia, write down the provisions that they found to be contrary to Islamic Sharia and then submit them to the Ministry of Justice in order to procced.
To study these laws, a board of clerics, sheikhs and jurists has been set up to review the laws on a daily basis.
He instructed the scholars in charge of the Law Drafting Project to consider both the accuracy and speed in reviewing the laws so that the they are reviewed as soon as possible and submitted to the competent authorities for the next steps to be taken.
