10 people in numbers attained their citizenship of Afghanistan

In the past six month of the on-going year, 7 foreign citizens have applied for attaining Afghanistan’s citizenship and 10 attainment cases of foreign citizens have been finalized by Ministry of justice along with cases of the on-going and last year.

These 10 people are the citizens of different countries of the world that, by the finalization of Justice Ministry and issuance of the decree of the President officially received the citizenship of Afghanistan.

The cases of the attaining citizenship applicants after review,  were placed to be processed by the attaining and relinquishing commission and  by confirming 10 cases only 3 cases are under process of Ministry of Justice that shall be completed soon.

On the other side, during this period of time, 102 persons have applied for relinquishing citizenship for the reason of getting the citizenship of a second country.

 Applications of relinquishing citizenship of these people after review, in relevant commission are under process at Ministry of justice. Within the starting 6 month of the on-going year, 178 relinquishing citizenship cases of the current year and last year are finalized and after the approval of cabinet the president have issued them.

The main reason for relinquishing the citizenship of Afghanistan is the laws and regulations of the numbers of the countries in which the Afghans are residing and willing to get that country’s citizenship.

These numbers of countries citizenship is conditioned upon repealing the prior citizenship of the applicant and the applicants may not have citizenships of two countries at one time.

It is important to say that, attaining and relinquishing processing procedure is time consuming due to sending applications to security administrations, Ministry of Finance and NSIA about ensuring lack of crime, financial and verification of Identity.

To avoid disturbance of the applications, we are expecting the relevant administrations cooperate with us in section of speeding up the process of the applications.
