Meeting of Minister of Justice with a Delegation of International Development Law Organization (IDLO)
The acting minister of justice of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Sheikh-al-hadeeth Mawlawi sahib Abdul Hakeem Sharei, on Wednesday 3rd of August visited the general director of the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) of Afghanistan Mr. Raymond Mickleright and his delegation at the office of this ministry and had a conversation with him.
In this meeting, the modality of aid and coordination of this organization with defense attorneys and legal aid providers were negotiated.
The general director of international development law organization expressed his appreciations and gratitude to the minister of justice for paving the ground and granting the activities licenses to the defense attorneys. He requested from the ministry of justice for the provision of facilities for establishment of a union to the defense attorneys through which the assistances in the field of training and conducting the efficient programs to the defense attorneys would be projected and implemented.
The minister of justice provided the information about the defense attorneys and the manner of its corporation with the ministry of justice, and he said that the defense attorneys were previously independent and there were a lot of corruptions so their coordinators complained to the ministry of justice. He added that, based on this complaints, the ministry of justice suggested the issue to the cabinet and cabinet decided that the defense attorneys should continued its activities under the auspices of ministry of justice.
The minister of justice requested from the international development law organization to coordinate with the ministry of justice in the section of defense attorneys and legal aid.
In this meeting, the director of defense attorneys Mawlawi Saed Habib Alhabib provided information about the activities of this directorate, and he said that this directorate conducted the evaluation processes of defense attorneys two times. He added that this directorate conducted 9 times the evaluation of defense attorneys and granted the activities licenses to 450 defense attorneys.
The defense attorney’s director said further more, after completing the evaluation process and granting licenses this directorate will convene internship course to the defense attorneys to defend the rights of incapables in its right way.
At the end, the general director of the international development law organization promised that, in case the international communities lift the sanction on Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, this organization would coordinate with the ministry of justice in legislative stage (internship) and other sections thereof.
