Ministry of Justice Launches the National Program of Sapling Planting

National Sapling Planting and Campaign Day Program commenced with planting dozens of saplings in the yard of Ministry of Justice by Minister of Justice and other government officials.

In the National Sapling Planting Program initiating on Thursday March 11th, Minister of Justice along with his deputies, Director of National Administration of Environmental Protection, Deputy Municipal of Kabul Urban Services, Directors and other central employees of Ministry of Justice took part and planted some saplings.

Qanunpooh Fazil Ahmad Manawi, Minister of Justice in his speech being delivered in the above mentioned program, pointed out to the significance of environment and its protection and asserted that it is amongst the top priorities of the world today and said: “This matter in addition to being a social necessity is also considered worship from the perspective of religion.”

Besides appreciating the National Administration for Environment Protection and Ministry of Agriculture and Kabul Municipality for their cooperation in this program the Minister of Justice said: “We all should acknowledge ourselves responsible for this matter and added anyone who breathes the air of this country shall assume his or her responsibility for the environment and should participate in its greenery.”

Minister of Justice stated that due to the lack of rainfall, drought threatens the country and the main reasons for the drought are lack of greenery and deforestation. He emphasized that none of us should desist from planting and should keep sapling planting to reduce the threat of drought and prevent other natural pests.

In the meantime, Shahzaman Maiwandi, Director of National Administration of Environment Protection said that in past recent decades, owning to the war, economic problems and non-methodical growth of urbanization, vast parts of green areas and forests in the country have been destroyed; therefore, if we want our country to be green again and prevent from its negative impacts and consequences, all sectors and individuals in society should actively participate in the process of sapling planting and their maintenance and protection.

At the end of the program; Ms. Mahtab Alemi, Kabul Deputy Municipal in Urban Services, while presenting the performances and programs of this administration regarding the greenery said that all areas having been restored from usurpation are supposed to be turned into green parks.  

She also called on citizens to participate in National Sapling Planting Program and plant the sapling being distributed amongst the families by the municipality and take effort to maintain and protect them.

In order to protect and enhance the environment and prevent from the air contamination, Ministry of Justice has intended to plant approximately 1260 fruit and non-fruit saplings, 980 shrubs of perennial flowers and 8770 of square meters have been sowed with grass seeds.
