Minister Sarwar Danish
The Minister of Justice, His Excellency Sarwar Danish, is the son of Mohammad Ali and was born to a pious and religious family in the year 1340 (1961) in the Oshtorlai village of Daikundi Province. Following his primary education in a local school, he pursued higher education in various schools in Iraq, Syria and Iran.
He holds a number of higher education degrees including a Bachelor of Arts in Law, a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Culture and Education, a Masters Degree in Feqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) and a Certificate of Education in Journalism. Minister Danish is a prolific writer, having published or translated more than 15 books on various topics, including Islamic jurisprudence, and he has written more than 700 articles for a number of publications in the country. Also, from 1361 to 1380 (1982-2001) he was the editor of various publications related to legal issues.
Prior to being named the Minister of Justice by President Karzai in December 2004, Minister Danish served Afghanistan well in a number of other official positions during the interim and transitional periods that followed the signing of the December 2001 Bonn Agreement. Among the important posts he held include having been a member and active participant in the Emergency Loya Jirga of June 2002 and the Constitutional Loya Jirga of December 2003. Minister Danish was also a member of the Constitution Drafting Commission in 2002-2003 and then in the 35-member Constitution Review Commission. When President Karzai created Daikundi Province by decree in early 2004, Minister Danish was named the province’s first governor.
