Message of the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on the Republication of Adalat (Justice) Magazine.
I, hereby, congratulate the staff and all employees of the Ministry of Justice, community of lawyers, intellectuals, scholars and spiritualists, and all journalists and writers for the republication of Adalat Magazine. Undoubtedly, national publications, particularly legal publications, play a vital role in the current situation in which our country is taking steps towards more stability, security, rule of law, social justice and democracy. Adalat Magazine and other publications have a great mission to enlighten public opinion, promote professional knowledge of experts in the country, and publication on legal issues is one of the more important and constant needs of society, especially for our country which has been deprived of legal publication since years ago. I am sure that the Adalat Magazine with its experienced staff shall have an important role in achieving our sacred goals of national unity, reconstruction of the country, leading towards civil society and ensure social justice. Once again I congratulate you for the republication of Adalat Magazine and hope more success for the magazine.
Hamid Karzai
President of Islamic Transitional State of Afghanistan
History
In 1930, the Ministry of Justice published its first legal magazine called "Hai Alassalah" and later published periodicals called “Alfalah, “Oaza” and “Adil”. When the interim administration of President Hamid Karzai took office in December 2001, the ministry started publishing Justice (“Adalat”) Magazine. It is published monthly by the ministry’s department of publications in both Dari and Pashto. Justice Magazine contains articles and commentary by various Ministry of Justice officials and other legal scholars. It is intended to be a forum where pressing legal, political and social issues in Afghanistan can be discussed openly and to educate the people of the country on such matters. Mr. Mohammad Halim Sarioosh is presently the editor-in-chief of the magazine, and he is responsible for publishing and disseminating it to all Afghanistan central government agencies, to Afghan embassies and consulates abroad, to the country’s universities and to each of the country’s 34 provincial governors. At this time, Justice Magazine is only available in Dari and Pashto, not in English.
